The Everett Farmers Market has launched a “share a bag” program. Our customers are encouraged to bring surplus “gently used washed” reusable bags and drop them off at a bin at the Market Headquarter so others who need such bags can pick them up for free and return them the following week.
Snoisle Food Coop donated 25 bags, plus serveral donations have been made by customers who attend the market. Two weeks have passed and bin is almost empty. The Share a Bag program works best if we have bags to share, so if you borrowed a bag, please return it this weekend. If you have extra bags that you are not using, please donate to the Share a Bag Bin.
Single – use handle bags seem to be the single biggest environmental offender, winding up in Puget Sound, on our farmlands and in our forests The Everett Farmers Market is asking customers and vendors “to voluntarily participate in using Re-Usable bags” at the Farmers Market.
