Darlene Ulsh, like many of the vendors at the Everett Farmers Market, went through a major career change in order to get where she is now. Ulsh sells a variety of baked goods every week at the market and has done so for nearly two decades, but prior to that she spent 14 years as a deck hand and cook aboard commercial fishing vessels in the Bering Sea. At the time, fishing boats had minimal galley facilities.
Ulsh was one of the few cooks to actually bake anything, which is how she got her start in the industry. After settling down on solid ground in Snohomish, Ulsh first started coming to the Market as a customer looking for plants to populate her new yard. After a year, the only vendor who sold baked goods had left the market and Ulsh saw her opening.
The rest is history, and 18 years later Ulsh still sells her baked goodies every week in Everett, as well as at the Snohomish and Redmond markets. We did some market research (strictly scientific), and I can happily recommend her quality products.
Meet Darlene this Sunday at the market, and might I suggest a macaroon? Feel Free to contact her for special events at 360-568-6617 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
