According to Karen Kinney, Executive Director of the Washington State Farmers Market Association, “Washington State’s farmers markets are stronger than ever. Every year we see more and more local farmers market shoppers who realize how easy it is each week to find the freshest and tastiest food Washington farmers can grow. Getting to talk to the person who grew it and understand what it takes to bring great food to our dinner tables helps all of us appreciate the importance of ensuring we have a strong farming economy forever”.
This year, “Farmers Market Week Cooks!” features a simple, easily adaptable recipe that uses a short list of fresh and affordable ingredients that can be purchased from markets in every area of Washington during Farmers Market Week. Chef Jason Brzozowy, Executive Chef of Maria Hines Restaurants in Seattle developed the recipe. This recipe is easy to make, very affordable and highlights the fresh corn, peppers, and tomatoes overflowing at our farm tables right now.
